The game

Short trips into the fog

Five minutes give real progress, but there is always another stretch of fog to clear. Every trip out makes your base — and your hero — a little stronger.

Watch your lantern

Your light pushes the fog back, but the oil runs out. Turn home in time — when it's gone, the darkness swarms.

Gather and fight

Stand by a tree or a rock and you gather on your own; your sword swings by itself. You choose where to go.

Grow your base

Spend what you bring home on buildings, gear and skills. The tent becomes a keep, the keep a grand castle.

Find the map pieces

Each stage hides lost fragments of the map. Bring them home to clear new land — and see your explored world on parchment.

Dungeons and bosses

Rare caves, crypts and mines hide chests and relics. Every fifth stage, a boss guards the farthest map piece.

A nordic soundtrack

War drums at home, kantele and bone flute in the field, choirs in the depths — every track is synthesized for the game.

An isometric stone castle with blue roofs and red flags, the hero with his lantern at the gate

Your base

From a tent to the Throne of the Fog

Twenty base levels, and every one shows: walls, towers, golden roofs, a cathedral spire. New levels unlock buildings, gear tiers and camps further out in the fog.

Der Wegfinder

Your hero

The cartographer who walks into the fog

Every upgrade shows on him: the cloak changes colour with your armour, the lantern glows brighter with each tier, the feather in his hat with his level. Gear counts more than levels, so new tiers feel like a real jump.

Update 0.5

LatestOctober 14, 2026

Map pieces explained

  • The lost map. On your first trip out a short window explains the map pieces: where they are, that you bring them home, what clearing a stage pays and what the next stage brings. Tap the goal card in the base to see it again.
  • The goal card in the base now shows the reward for clearing the stage (silver and XP).
  • Map pieces out in the fog look like the map picture in the HUD, so they no longer look like letters.

Camps and port stones

  • Guard your camp while it is built. A new camp needs 45 seconds of building, and the work only goes on while you stay close. Raiders come for the site and strike it; if it takes 20 blows, it is lost. A red bar shows its wounds, a gold bar the build.
  • Camps need room. The ground around a camp must be cleared of trees and rocks first. The camp card shows how many are in the way, and the ground marks them in red.
  • At most 5 camps. You can tear a camp down where you stand and get half of its cost back into your pack, then build further out.
  • Port stones. Build a port stone in your base (base level 6) and one at a camp. Tap the base's stone to pick a camp on the map and travel there; at the camp, its stone takes you home. Travel only goes between the base and a camp, never from camp to camp, and each trip costs 4 wood.
  • What you carry now counts when you pay for a camp: the pack pays first, the base the rest.

Fixes

  • The health bar no longer shows one more than your maximum when you are at full health.
  • On iPhone the map, dialogs, the fall screen and the info bubbles now stay clear of the notch, the Dynamic Island, the rounded corners and the home bar.
  • Camps no longer show their distance while you are inside a dungeon.
  • The browser version explains a start that hangs and offers "Start without saving" when the browser blocks storage.

Performance

  • Smoother walking on iPhone: the fog has its own light layer, new land appears a little at a time, buildings and townsfolk animate in turns, and saving the map is much faster.
Update 0.4October 13, 2026

A new look

  • A new hero. The cartographer is now a hand-drawn sprite with idle, walk and sword-swing animations, seen from the front and the back. Every upgrade still shows: cloak by armor, leg wraps by boots, lantern glass by lantern, feather by hero level.
  • Nordic land. Painted ground, spruce and birch trees, mossy boulders with ore.
  • New enemies' look. Grey wolf, draugr with helmet and shield, ogre, fog wraith and mossy troll.
  • Nordic music. Warriors' drums in the base, a wandering tune outside, epic music in dungeons, a boss fight theme and a dark theme when the lantern runs low.

Play

  • Bow switch. A button above the fury button (or key B) turns the bow off to save arrows. The bow now only shoots at enemies at a distance; close enemies always get the sword.
  • Buildings open when you tap them, not when you walk past.
  • Less on the screen: a compact HUD, a one-line goal card, building names only where something can be done.
  • Building panels show everything up to the buy button without scrolling; the explanation is behind "Info".
  • On a computer the first walking hint shows W A S D and the mouse.

iPhone

  • The HUD and the base buttons sit beside the Dynamic Island; panels stay above the home bar and scroll by dragging.
Update 0.3October 12, 2026

New

  • Start menu with three save slots and settings.
  • Fog instead of night outside the base. It turns dark only as your lantern oil runs out.
  • Little map in the corner with an arrow that always points home.
  • Upgrade queue: line up to 3 more jobs behind a busy building.
  • Fall screen: shows what you lost, where your pack waits and what the mule saved, then "Respawn at base". A fall costs a quarter of the current level's XP.
  • Longer music with real songs instead of short loops.
  • Dungeons are rarer and more special.
  • Walking feels even in every direction on screen.
  • The haul card on the base screen fades by itself.

The game has a name: Fogmarch

  • New app icon and loading picture: the castle in a clearing of fog.

iPhone app

  • Fogmarch runs as an iPhone app, with sound even when the silent switch is on.
  • Crash-safe saves: progress survives app updates.
Update 0.2October 11, 2026

New

  • Town life: a marketplace, houses with townsfolk who walk the streets, and rent every minute.
  • Trade at the marketplace: buy stone, wood and iron, sell hide, crystal and iron.
  • Base levels up to 20, from tent to the Throne of the Fog, with new gear tiers, the Observatory and the Treasury.
  • Bosses guard a map piece every 5 stages.
  • World map of everything explored so far, on parchment.
  • Sound and music.
  • Battle fury: 10 seconds of double-speed attacks, trained at the forge.
  • Expeditions resume where you left off after closing the game.
  • Falling keeps your world: you wake at home and fetch your pack from where you fell.
  • Dice for random hero and base names.

Balance

  • Gear matters more than hero levels.
  • Health heals fast only at the base; outside only slowly, and only away from fights.
  • Camps are small campfires that refill the lantern.
  • Richer land far from the base; a slower late game and smoother level costs.
  • Enemies find their way around trees and rocks.
Update 0.1October 10, 2026

The first version

  • Explore an endless fog with your lantern around a base that grows from a tent into a castle.
  • Gather wood, stone, iron and crystal by standing next to trees and rocks; fights swing on their own.
  • Bow and arrows from the Fletcher (base level 4).
  • Building and upgrading take time, with progress bars.
  • Name your cartographer and your base.
  • Camps in the fog from base level 6.
  • A game clock with days.
  • Dungeons: caves, crypts and mines with their own maps, a chest and a relic.
  • Every upgrade shows on the hero.
  • Pictures instead of text: tap any picture for its meaning.
  • Plays in portrait and landscape, and from the iPhone home screen like an app.
